When do I need a Red Squirrel Survey?

Our native red squirrel has had its habitat restricted through the introduction of the non-native grey squirrel. Therefore, their numbers are relatively low. This has led to them obtaining legal protection through the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (as amended).

 

Prior to any development, protected species are required to be considered prior to the approval of planning. The following species are protected and must be considered:
